Due to the measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus, the Embassy of Portugal will be assisting Portuguese citizens who are in Cuba and who need urgent consular acts (for example, issuance of travel documents).

Non-urgent consular acts will be suspended until the end of April, 2020.

Visa processing will be suspended for 30 days, starting on March 19, 2020.

If you need to carry out an urgent consular act at this Embassy or have any questions, you may contact us to info.havana@mne.pt.

On February 17, 2020, a Specialized Room in Portuguese Language was opened at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of the University of Havana.

This new space, made possible by the support of the University and Camões I.P., will hold many of the activities of the Portuguese Language and Culture Chair and the "Eça de Queirós" Chair at the University of Havana.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Elisa Domeq Cabrera, the Director of International Relations of the University, Silvia Gonzalez Legarda, and several vice-deans from other areas of the University.

The Embassy was represented by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Bernardino Azevedo, and by the representative of Camões I.P. in Havana, Isabel Gaspar.

Undergraduate students and professors of the Degree in Portuguese as a Second Foreign Language were also present, reciting verses from some of their favorite Portuguese-speaking poets.

For the third consecutive year, Portugal was considered the World's Best Tourist Destination by the 2019 World Travel Awards, in a ceremony held on November 28 at the Royal Opera House of Muscat, the capital of Oman. In all, Portugal has collected more than a dozen tourism "Oscars" this year.

Lisbon was again voted the Best City Break Destination in the World. Madeira was once again considered the Best Island Destination in the World. Paiva Walkways has been awarded the Best Adventure Tourism Attraction in the World award.
